Paul's experience with Internet/Web technologies goes back to
the very
beginning. He was a member of the team of Physicists working
on
physics experiments at CERN, for whom the
world wide web was originally invented by Tim Berners-Lee, a
CERN employee. Paul used cutting edge computer technology for his
research
in high energy physics, a field devoted to the study of fundamental
constituents
of matter, such as quarks. To advance their research in this field,
physicists
often end up pushing on the limits of technology. After putting
his
name on more than 150 physics research papers published in American and
European research journals, Paul, Inspired by the scope of the
web,
joined the field of computer science:
- Obtained Master in Computer Science from Cornell
University, Ithaca, NY.
- Worked at Novell as senior software engineer. Participated
in
developing
the Novell Directory Services designed to access, manage and secure
network
resources and information.
- Worked at Netscape as lead software engineer. Played a key
role in
building
a new team called escalation engineering to improve the Netscape
Communicator
product. Also at Netscape, participated in developing B2B
ecommerce
system, sellerXpert.
- Joined Weborder, a startup with one member engineering
team. As
Director
of Engineering, he built the Engineering team and spearheaded the
development of ecommerce system that would enable merchants to open an
online store in fifteen minutes. This system was used by Netscape to
commerce
enable its backoffice. Provided technological leadership to position
the
company for success. Weborder was eventually bought by Netopia for
about
$22 millions.
- Joined Mp3.com at pre-IPO stage as Director of Engineering.
Helped
building
the ecommerce system of MP3.com. Developed and implemented the matrix
management
system at MP3.com. Managed several projects such as MP3 Radio,
Music
Service Provider, Music Messenger, Affiliate Program, and integration
of
MP3.com with other sites.
- Spearheaded the development of ARCADE, the flagship product
of Dream
Logic
as its Sr. Director of Software Development.
- Paul has taught night courses in networking,
internetworking, and
distributed
software systems at San Jose State, and Golden Gate University.
